On 21 September 2026, Rostyslav Tronenko, Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Mozambique held a meeting with Maria de Fátima Simão Manso, Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and Mozambican Communities Abroad of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Mozambique.

During the meeting the parties discussed topical issues of the intensification of bilateral relations, in particular the development of political dialogue, trade and economic cooperation, implementation of humanitarian projects, deepening cooperation in the consular sphere, as well as issues of ensuring global food security. Both sides agreed upon measures to strengthen cooperation between Ukraine and Mozambique within the UN and other international organizations.

During the meeting, the State Secretary expressed gratitude to Ukraine for its valuable contribution to Mozambique's food security through the implementation of the "Food from Ukraine" initiative of the President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, especially while overcoming the consequences of the floods at the beginning of 2026, emphasizing Mozambique's interest in the continuation of this assistance.

The State Secretary for Foreign Affairs emphasized the strong people-to-people foundation of Ukrainian-Mozambican relations as a defining factor in bilateral cooperation.
