On Defenders of Ukraine Day, we thank the brave men and women who protect our country and its freedom.

Every day, day and night, they stand up for Ukraine’s independence, territorial integrity and the right of Ukrainians to determine their own future. We thank them for their dedication, professionalism, and courage.

Today, Ukraine also marks Ukrainian Cossacks Day and the Feast of the Protection of the Holy Virgin, known in Ukraine as Cossack Pokrova – a feast that has become an important part of Ukraine’s military tradition over the centuries.

On this day, we remember all those who gave their lives for Ukraine. Their sacrifice and courage will forever remain part of our history and our shared memory.
