Russia attacked Ukraine’s critical infrastructure 10-10-2025
10 October 2025 15:48

Russia has carried out a calculated and cynical attack on Ukraine’s critical infrastructure on the night of October 10, targeting the energy sector with over 450 drones and more than thirty missiles.
These strikes aim to disrupt everyday life and deprive Ukrainians of basic necessities.
Russian attack killed a 7-year-old boy in Zaporizhzhia. Its missile hit the residential area, destroying a house and causing a fire. Emergency services rescued the boy from the rubble. Sadly, he later died in hospital from fatal injuries.
More than 20 civilians across the country were injured.
Power outages have been reported in Kyiv, Donetsk, Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Kharkiv, Sumy, Poltava, Odesa, and Dnipro regions.
Rescue services are operating wherever needed.
Teams in Kyiv are working to restore electricity and water supply.
Civilian energy infrastructure is the primary target of Russian strikes ahead of the heating season. Depriving people of energy as temperatures drop constitutes unbearable living conditions, amounting to genocide under Article II (c) of the Genocide Convention. Only strong, unified pressure – economic, military, and political – can work.
Ukraine calls on partners – the U.S., Europe, G7, and the international community – to respond decisively with enhanced air defence support and stricter sanctions. Russia must feel that the cost of continuing this war exceeds the cost of ending it.

President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy:

"At many critical infrastructure sites, recovery efforts continue following Russia’s strike on the energy sector. It was a cynical and calculated attack, with more than 450 drones and over thirty missiles targeting everything that sustains normal life, everything the Russians want to deprive us of. As of now, more than 20 people across the country have been reported injured – all are receiving the necessary assistance. Sadly, a child was killed in Zaporizhzhia as a result of the attack. My sincere condolences to the family and loved ones.
In Kyiv, repair crews are working to restore power and water supply. Power outages have been reported in the Kyiv, Donetsk, Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Kharkiv, Sumy, Poltava, Odesa and Dnipro regions. Zaporizhzhia, Kirovohrad, and Kherson regions are also recovering after the attack.
All relevant services are working on recovery, and first responders are operating wherever needed. I receive regular reports from Minister for Development of Communities and Territories Oleksii Kuleba, Minister of Energy Svitlana Grynchuk, Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko, and local officials. Maximum efficiency is required from government representatives at all levels.
It is precisely the civilian and energy infrastructure that is the main target of Russia’s strikes ahead of the heating season. Together, we can protect people from this terror. What’s needed is not window dressing but decisive action – from the United States, Europe, and the G7 – in delivering air defense systems and enforcing sanctions. We count on a response to this brutality from the G20 and from all those who speak of peace in their statements yet refrain from taking real steps. The world can defend itself against these crimes – and doing so will undoubtedly strengthen global security. Thank you to everyone who is helping."

Russia marks the “anniversary” of its first massive attack on Ukraine’s energy system (October 10, 2022) by doing it again tonight.

This is what the blackout across Ukraine caused by Russia’s attacks on Ukraine’s energy system looked like in 2022 – and this is what it looks like today.
On October 10, 2025, Russia launched a large-scale drone and missile attack against Ukraine, particularly on its energy grid. More than 20 people were injured, and one child was killed. Multiple regions were forced to introduce emergency power shutdowns.
What kind of people make terror a tradition, if not sick war criminals?
What is this energy terror before winter, if not genocide?
What is needed now are decisive action – from the U.S., Europe, G7, and G20 – in delivering air defence systems to Ukraine and strengthening sanctions against Russia.

Andrii Sybiha, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has commented on Russia’s attack on Ukraine’s critical civilian infrastructure on October 10:
“Pressure on Moscow is the only recipe that can work, but it needs to be strong and consolidated. Economic pressure of biting sanctions, military pressure of stronger support for Ukraine, and political pressure of full isolation.”
Ukraine welcomes the agreement between Israel and HAMAS on a ceasefire and hostage release, as part of the first phase of the peace plan initiated by the President of the United States of America, Donald Trump. We also note the important role and diplomatic efforts of Qatar, Egypt, and Türkiye in reaching this agreement.
Ukraine calls for strong, unified pressure on Russia. Putin must see that continuing this war endangers his regime."
