On March 9, 2025 Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Mozambique organised the first Shevchenko day in Mozambique.

The event, dedicated to the work of "Great Kobzar", brought together the Ukrainian community and representatives of the Mozambican public, who honoured the memory of Taras Shevchenko by reading his immortal works in Ukrainian and Portuguese. 

During this event the Ukrainian community got acquanted with the Ambassador of Ukraine in the Republic of Mozambique Mr Rostyslav Tronenko, who had arrived in Maputo recently. The Ambassador discussed with the guests the issues of importance to Ukraine, exchanged views on how to preserve cultural heritage and strengthen ties between Ukrainians abroad.

In addition, the Embassy of Ukraine congratulated Ukrainian and Mozambican women on International Women's Day, expressing their sincere gratitude for their strength, wisdom and tireless work.
