On the occasion of commemoration of the victims of the Tutsi genocide on 7 April 2026, H.E. Rostyslav Tronenko, Ambassador of Ukraine in the Republic of Mozambique signed in the condolences book, opened by the Embassy of Rwanda in Mozambique, expressing solidarity with Rwanda in connection with this tragedy and the wishing that such atrocities would never happen again. It was emphasized that the Ukrainian people, who survived the Holodomor and are currently bravely confronting the genocidal aggression of Russia, do understand and share the pain of the Rwandan people.

Also on 12 April 2026, the Ambassador of Ukraine took part in a commemorative event, organized by the Embassy of Rwanda in Mozambique on the 32^nd anniversary of the Tutsi genocide, with presence of the numerous Rwandan community, Mozambican official, business, and civil society representatives, as well as the diplomatic corps, accredited in Maputo.
