Ukraine’s traditions have been inscribed on UNESCO’s List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage:
- Pysanka, Ukrainian tradition and art of decorating eggs
- Safeguarding programme of kobza and wheel lyre tradition
- Culture of Ukrainian borshch cooking
- Ornek, a Crimean Tatar ornament and knowledge about it
- Tradition of Kosiv painted ceramics
- Cossack’s songs of the Dnipro region
- Petrykivka decorative painting as a phenomenon of the Ukrainian ornamental folk art
By acknowledging this heritage, UNESCO emphasized its universal significance and the need to preserve it for future generations. Ukraine remains committed to protecting and promoting these treasures, ensuring that our culture continues to inspire both at home and around the world.
On this day, we honour the skills and knowledge of our ancestors – and the ongoing efforts of communities who keep these practices alive and meaningful.
