As temperatures across Ukraine drop once again, Russia is escalating its strikes against our energy system. Ukrainians are facing renewed disruptions to heating and electricity as nighttime temperatures fall to –25°C.
Overnight from February 2 to February 3, Russia launched 521 aerial targets against Ukraine – 450 drones and 71 missiles, with a significant share being ballistic missiles, which are especially difficult to intercept.
This was the most powerful attack on Ukraine’s energy sector in 2026 so far, as reported by DTEK, the largest private investor in the energy industry in Ukraine.
Thermal power plants providing heat in Kyiv, Kharkiv, Dnipro, and Odesa regions were hit, leaving thousands without electricity and forcing emergency outages.
Ukraine urgently needs stronger air defence and increased pressure on Russia – to stop its deliberate energy terror.
